15 Wedding Guest Dresses Under £150

Wedding season is well and truly upon us and as someone attending 4 (!) this year, I totally get the stress of trying to find the perfect outfit. Before whipping out your purse, I strongly encourage you to dig deep in your wardrobe and try find something to rewear. I did this for the last wedding I attended and it turned out great! You could add a giant flower corsage (à la Carrie Bradshaw), a shawl or scarf to jazz it up a touch. However, I do also understand that every wedding is different and sometimes you simply don’t own the right kind of dress for the occasion. All the weddings I’ve been invited to this year have completely different vibes, so trying to navigate 4 outfits has been tricky to say the least. I also live in fear of being called out online for an inappropriate guest outfit, so have laid out quite a strict set of rules to ensure that never happens.

  1. No white, cream or beige (duh!)

  2. No super light pastel colours that could show up white under a camera flash

  3. No patterns that are majority white, cream or beige

  4. Nothing too extra - find that balance between what makes you feel amazing, but doesn’t upstage the bride or draw all the attention to you.

All the above considered, I have been hunting high and low for the perfect selection of dresses over the last few months and it’s definitely not been easy. I was determined to wear vintage/second hand outfits to every wedding so first tried vintage shops, vinted, eBay etc but had zero luck. I did find the most gorgeous brown embroidered dress but then discovered a cluster of stubborn oil stains on the bottom - heartbroken. Therefore, I’ve turned to the high street and set a budget of £150, while also only entertaining dresses that could be worn again. Whether that be for a future birthday, party or another wedding! (Also, strongly recommend renting out any dresses you buy specifically for an occasion - make that £ back and help someone else in the process!)

Now that I’ve finally put together all my outfits, I wanted to share with you the 15 best contenders that I had my eye on throughout this whole process and also link some accessories that I think would pair nicely!

Monsoon Mya Dress £140

This dress is so beautiful? I feel like it’s such a classy take on the whole bubble skirt trend, and the colour has to be one of my all time favourite shades of green. This would be insanely flattering on anybody and feels super timeless, you could (and should!) wear it year after year. I’d add a little more texture with a sequin or beaded bag.

& Other Stories Ribbon-Detail Slip Maxi Dress £145

I feel like I often forget about & Other Stories, but they do have some real gems - including this dress! It’s so unique that I would never have expected it to be from a high street store, it’s giving expensive!! Even though it’s such a deep rich colour I do think you could easily make it work for summer or winter weddings. A butter yellow heel would be very nice with this!
