I Asked 5 Cool Girls What They're Most Excited To Wear This Summer

As someone who would confidently say that fashion is their main interest in life, I’m definitely ashamed to admit that I get the majority of my style inspiration online. I know I need to make more of a conscious effort to go outside and see what the people around me are wearing, but sometimes it’s just not that easy to feel inspired by the same faces and places you see every single day. I wish that I could go into Brighton and feel the way I do when visiting a new city, but everything just starts to blend into one and doesn’t spark that same interest in the way it might to a tourist.
(I almost forgot that last summer I actually did venture outside and spend hours scribbling down notes about what people were wearing, which you can read here. Maybe it’s time for an updated version?)
Despite the above, it’s important to remember that the people who inspire us online are real, we just don’t see them IRL. It may seem like they only exist within your phone screen, but they are in-fact real people living their own lives that inspire them to put together those outfits you love so much. So just as the weather starts to warm up, I wanted to reach out to a few of my favourite online fashion girlies and see what they’re most excited to wear this summer!

I’d say I’m excited to layer my outfits this summer. I tend to lose creativity in the summer since it’s so hot and I want to incorporate layering like I do in the fall but in a summery way. I’ve been super into skirts over pants, reminds me of being a kid and dressing myself.

I’m really excited to get out a few pieces this summer, one being my ride or die vintage (duh) champion tracksuit capris - they’re the perfect low rise and baggy fit, I will shamelessly be in them paired with a cami and some havi’s all summer! I’ve also been collecting poncho’s (crochet, tasselled, finely knit, you name it!) and I’m so excited for them to finally have their debut, they’re such a chic way to cover up from the sun.
I’ve also heard that Melissa shoes are making a huge comeback this year so in prep I’ve bagged myself a pair of Melissa X Vivienne Westwood jelly glitter ballet shoes on Vinted and they’ll be glued to my feet if they don’t cut my feet up like how I remember jelly shoes did as a kid.

I’m definitely most excited to be able to wear sheer and thin fabrics again, also open toed shoes like a tiny little kitten heel with jeans.

I'm giving you two options here because I'm indecisive!
1. Anything silver and sparkly- I just snagged the most iconic pair of early 2000's Prada silver heels which I can't wait to wear to upcoming summer weddings and/ or with blue jeans and a peter pan collared blouse when Lime biking to get an iced matcha and cupcake from Violet.
2. Not the most groundbreaking but I can't wait to dust off my camo printed Havaianas and wear them with everything going everywhere this summer. I want to stress that I'll be wearing them in a Copenhagen girlie / 00's icon / Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy way (as noted in my TikTok last summer).

Personally, I can’t wait to live in my Vagabond biker boots that I recently bought on a crazy discount, especially with mini skirts. Mini skirts or shorts in general too, I was all about the long bottoms last year but I feel like showing a little more skin this summer. I also have a great vintage camo Dior dress that I only got to wear once last year, so I’m praying it gets hot enough to bring it out again! It’s the least she deserves.
