A few days ago Sex and The City turned 25, and as outdated and problematic as some of the storylines and conversations are, the style is truly timeless. I’ve re-watched all six seasons more times than I can even recall, I remember being so young and borrowing my aunties DVD’s of each individual season, then getting my own bright pink box set for Christmas one year. Until eventually it was on streaming platforms and available to binge over and over again.
I would go as far to say no TV show has ever been styled better. But I feel like this statement proves itself by the fact we’re still talking about the outfits 25 years on, it’s a constant point of reference for writers, stylists, and fashion conscious individuals all over the world. I can feel myself getting re-inspired by every character each time I watch it, and immediately thinking of combinations I could try with my own wardrobe, wondering if I could get away with wearing heels to the corner shop in a casual Carrie-esque way?
Besides the fashion, which we will get to, SATC touches something in all of us regarding our female friendships and our relationships. I cry every time at the way the characters are truly there for each other - when Charlotte and Harry finally get Lily - I weep. When Smith shaves his head in support of Samantha? I turn into a snotty mess on the sofa. Don’t even get me started on when Carrie walks back into the cafe after coming back from Paris! Some of the storylines are truly special, and I’ve never connected to another show in the way I did with SATC.
So in honour of the big anniversary, I wanted to share some of my favourite Carrie Bradshaw outfits and moments, no matter how unrealistic her wardrobe is!
PJ’s + Clogs
I truly wish I could say I pop into my local co-op first thing in the morning in an outfit as unintentionally fabulous as this? However when stumbling out half asleep to grab bagels, my crocs and joggers are usually are my go to over clogs.
The running into your ex and his new fiance outfit
I’d say rocking a cowboy hat can usually make any situation feel much more fun and lighthearted, so hopefully thats how Carrie felt in this moment bumping into Big and Natasha. Bonus points for it being straw and hot pink.
Casual Carrie

As much as I adore the extravagant tutu’s and naked dresses, some of my favourite Carrie looks are the ones where she’s a bit more casual! I really love her in a stripy tee like the ones above, and that boob tube isn’t far off pieces I’ve seen by Gimaguas or Djerf Avenue.
Jackie Kennedy Era
In her dating the politician era she really committed to the bit and I respect that! Loving the big badge and classy handbag paired with a red nail - much different her usually un-manicured hands we see carrying sequinned Fendi baguettes and Marlboro lights.
Board Short Babe
Swimming trunks with a bikini top is totally cute! Big pants tiny top vibes. I really love this look, I watched this episode only a few weeks ago and have actually been trying on fun floral vintage pairs of board shorts when I come across them in vintage shops. Sadly I haven’t found any as good as these
American Girl in Paris
I absolutely detest Aleksandr Petrovsky and the whole storyline with him - season 6 feels so rushed and all of Carrie’s decisions seem so unlike her? He’s controlling, grumpy and gets away with it by love bombing her with Oscar De La Renta dresses and espresso machines. However this outfit being one of the last we see Carrie in, really brings it all together and reminded me of her pink version in the first ever episode. I hate the jacket, but adore the mint colour of the dress combined with the metallic heels and furry hand warmer! I need a reason to wear a tulle dress this big ASAP.
The “You’re about a fucking month late” Poncho
Every-time I see Carrie run into that photoshoot hours late and in last nights clothes, I wonder how she still looks so great. When I’ve been up all night dancing and doing shots, I can barely move from my bed for the next 24 hours. I’m a huge fan of a poncho so love this look, especially combined with the pink metallic pants.
Mis-matched Louboutins
I think Carrie’s LA outfits are some of the best in the show! Especially this ruffled dress moment with the mis-matched louboutins. SJP and SATC stylist Patricia Field, explained in an interview that the choice was a last minute decision, as they both just thought it would be cute. I feel like this styling decision really shows how unrealistic Carries wardrobe is, but how we’re just meant to enjoy how creative her outfits are, in the hopes we take some inspiration away for ourselves.
The Season 1 Fluffy Heels
I think these Dolce and Gabbana shoes in season 1 may have been the moment I truly fell in love with SATC, I knew just from that lilac maribou that this wouldn’t be the last time I watched it. I remember wearing my own fluffy heels not long after in some teenage attempt to recreate Carrie’s look. But I’d 100% wear these today, tomorrow and forever!
Baguettes galore!

If I could take anything from the wardrobe archives of SATC, it would be Carrie’s collection of Fendi baguettes. I’ve spoken before in previous newsletters about my love of the baguette, and how I treasure my own beaten up, hand-me-down denim Fendi Mama Baguette so so much. The sequin pink one is my absolute dream!!
Trying to pick my favourite outfits and looks was nearly impossible as they rarely miss, and even the questionable ones are somehow still so fabulous. But Substack is now telling me this newsletter is too long so it’s time to say goodbye!! Let me know your fave looks.
