Festival season is truly upon us, kicking off with two weekends of Coachella that have un-surprisingly taken over all our feeds and FYP’s. Even though I have never been to Coachella and sadly doubt I ever will, I look forward to it every year simply just to sit and scroll through everyones outfits and gain inspiration for my own summer looks. It’s definitely a different ballgame in comparison to UK festivals - where after the first 24 hours you’ve completely given up on your appearance and end up wearing a strange mixture of whatever clothes you brought, and some variation of fancy dress you found on the floor.
Now I’m slightly more grown up (almost 25, and still very much, just a baby) I am manifesting a more mature approach to festival dressing, something early 2000’s Alexa Chung would be proud of. So after Coachella had passed I decided to start my investigating into what the ‘cool-girl’ vibes are for 2023, WTF are we wearing??
SOME OUTFITS I LIKED SO FAR…

One thing I did notice after trying to find photographic evidence of cute Coachella outfits is that everything this year is much more low key. Some have previously described Coachella as the ‘influencer olympics’, where everyone is attempting to out-dress each other and have as many outfit changes and pictures in front of the ferris wheel as possible. But this year has seemed noticeably different, everyone looks a lot more relaxed and I actually saw way more content of performances and overpriced food than outfits on my feed this year.
However I did manage to find a few I really liked and I’ve included them above, they’re all giving me the perfect balance of comfy and fun, without trying *tooo* hard.
I’ve also included below a few posts below I did actually save over the weekends that caught my eye!
and lets throw in one TikTok I really enjoyed for a final dose of inspo…
MOVING ON, TO FESTIVAL TRENDS I LOVE FOR 2023…
SHEER SHEER SHEER - LACE / MESH / CROCHET

The ‘naked’ trend is already very big for this year, however it isn’t for the faint hearted! I’d personally style it with a fabric that offers a little more coverage such as a chunky crochet or dark lace, combined with some high waisted black granny pants. A few shots of tequila and I think I’d be brave enough to rock it outside.
SEQUINS

A classic Y2K throwback, this Saks Potts top is perfect and would definitely be a part of my dream outfit!
BOHO / PIRATE VIBES

Back in the day Boho was the ONLY vibe you would see at Coachella, championed by our festival queen Vanessa Hudgens, who always had the best outfits. We’ve seen a lot less of it in recent years but I do think it could be making a comeback in the form of ruffles, chunky boots and big low waisted belts.
LESS IS MORE

Say what you will about Hailey Bieber and Kendall Jenner but their looks this year were two of my favourites. Keeping things super simple is a smart move as they’ve already had their years of questionable outfits…(see below), which I doubt they want to repeat. However I actually really love both their looks and would 100% wear something similar to a day festival in the UK!
SO WTF WOULD I ACTUALLY WEAR?
It’s all very fun and cute to endlessly scroll Pinterest and save ideas of what you’d love to wear to a festival, but it’s very different actually sourcing the right pieces, navigating the UK weather and figuring out whether to prioritise comfort or style. Considering all of these elements (and thanks to Instagram) I think I’ve decided on a pretty good outfit recipe that I personally would feel the most comfortable and cute in…

This sheer lace dress/skirt + t-shirt combo is ideal! Just the right amount of ‘naked’ with comfort prioritised on top. I’d pair this with some chunky biker or cowboy boots and tie a sweatshirt round my shoulders for the evening. Another essential for me is a cross body bag, you always need your hands free so you can dance with one and hold a pint in the other.
LET’S SHOP!
There are still soooo many other outfit formulas I’d love to try out! So here are some pieces I’ve found that I’d love to style this festival season…
ROTATE BIRGER CHRISTENSEN SEQUIN TOP - £140
CARVELA KURT GEIGER BIKER BOOTS - £79 (DOWN FROM £219)
NICHOLAS BETTY TIERED DRESS - £165 (DOWN FROM £330)
PEACHY DEN MIMI NYLON BAG - £39 (DOWN FROM £65)
Just before I say goodbye I’m going to include some inspo I love that didn’t quite make it into the rest of this newsletter…

I hope this has been somewhat helpful! I’d love to see what outfits you put together if this inspires you at all this festi season… have fun and be safe!
Funny and inspirational as always!! :)
